"Can't access your account" Windows: How to fix it

It may happen, for various reasons, that Windows block access to our account. What to do in this case? The first universal rule to follow is not to panic, as there are several solutions that can be adopted. In fact, to regain access to your PC and use your favorite software, you will have to rely in particular on certain features of the Microsoft operating system.

How to restore Windows accounts

Below you will find two procedures to follow depending on the case in which you find yourself: if you do not have windows access, you will have to continue through a new profileand if we have a temporary account, we can use the Registration.

Recover your account with a new profile

Can't access your PC at all? If so, create a temporary account and re-enable the blocked account.

  • Start Windows in safe mode
  • In the Windows search bar, type command prompt
  • Type the following command net user administrator / active: yes
  • At this point, restart the PC and log in with the account Administrator
  • Go to Settings Windows 10 (Windows settings can also be accessed by pressing the WIN + I key combination)
  • Continue Account> Family and other users
  • Click on Add another user to this PC
  • On the next screen, click on the item I do not have the access data of this personthen Add a user without a Microsoft account
  • Create a local account
  • Then press the key combination WIN + R
  • I went into C: | Users
  • Transfer all archive of your interest

Afterwards, don't forget deactivate the previously activated administrator account:

  • In the Windows search bar, type command prompt
  • Type the following command net user administrator / active: no

Recover the account through the registry

If you still have access to your account, through a time profileit can be restored through the registry, without creating a new one.

  • In the Windows search bar, type command prompt
  • Type whoiam / users
  • Subsequently, copy the value in the section SID
  • Then again in the Windows search bar, type Regedit and open the recommended app
  • On the next screen, follow the path Computer HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINENSOFTWARENMicrosoftWindows NTNCurrentVersionNProfileList
  • Expand the last entry (Profile list) and find two folders with the same SID as above, one of which is called BAKindicating a backup of the user's profile
  • In this point, delete the folder without the BAK name, by clicking on it and then clicking Delete
  • Then rename the folder with the remaining SID code, eliminating just the word .BAK, and then confirm in OK
  • Then select the folder with the SID code and under the title ProfileImagePathCheck that the path is correct (C: Nusername).
  • Finally, double-click on the STATUS and set the value 0
  • Restart the PC and log in with your unlocked account.
