Connect the scanner to your Windows 10 computer

Step 1: Connect the cables

The first step is to connect the scanner to your computer or laptop using the special AM-BM USB cable. It is supplied by default with the scanner. The part with the familiar USB plug (BM) must be connected to a free socket on the computer. Connect the other end of the plug to the scanner.

Then plug the scanner's power cord into an electrical outlet, press the power button on the scanner, and continue to the next step.

Step 2: Add the device to the system

Once you have connected the device to your computer, you must add it to the system. In some cases, this will happen automatically. If not, you will have to add the scanner to the list of connected devices manually.

  1. Press the key combination "Windows + I".and then in the window that appears, click "Devices".
  2. In the left area of ​​the next window, select the section "Printers and scanners"and then press the button "Add printer or scanner".
  3. Wait a while for Windows 10 to scan all new devices. Sometimes the procedure fails, in which case try pressing the key. "Upgrade". to search again.
  4. Finally, you will see the name of your scanner in this window. Click once with the left mouse button and it will be added to the general list below. If you select a device, you can view its properties or remove it entirely from the system.
  5. Once the scanner is connected successfully, proceed to the next step.

Step 3: Installing the drivers

Most scanner manufacturers ship with the device a disc that contains the necessary software, including both drivers and scanning software. If for some reason you don't have it, the drivers and related software should be searched on the Internet. There are several methods of doing this, each of which can be found in a separate article.

Step 4: Get started

Once you've connected your scanner and installed all the drivers, you can move on to working with it. You can scan documents with different programs, which we talk about in another article.

However, if you don't want to use such software, you can use the built-in Windows 10 program. To do this, do the following:

  1. Open the menu "Start". and scroll to the lower left half of it. Locate and open the folder "Standard - Windows". From the drop-down menu, select "Faxes and scans.".
  2. In the window that opens, click on the button "Scan".located in the lower left corner. This will change the software to the mode corresponding to the name.
  3. As a result, you will see the list of directories where the scanned documents will be saved. You can create your own folders, if necessary. To start working with the scanner, press the button "New exploration" button..
  4. A window will open in which you can select the device (if you have multiple scanners connected), the scan settings, and the color format. When done, press the "Preview". (for a preliminary evaluation of the result) or alternatively "Scan"..
