How to record audio in Skype

Click the button to change the recording device. Select a stereo mixer.

A stereo mixer is a device that records sound from a computer. It is built into most sound cards. If no stereo mixer appears, turn it on.

To do this, go to the Windows recording device settings. To do this, right-click on the speaker icon in the lower right corner. The desired item is the recording devices.

In the window that appears, right-click on the stereo mixer and turn it on.

If the mixer is not displayed, it is necessary to enable the display of the powered off and disconnected devices. If the mixer keeps crashing, try updating your motherboard or sound card drivers. This can be done automatically using the Driver Booster program.

If you can't see the mixer even after updating the driver, unfortunately your motherboard doesn't have that feature.

Then Audacity is ready to record. Now start Skype and start talking.

In Audacity, click the record button.

When the conversation is over, press the Stop button.

It only remains to save the recording. To do this, select the menu option File> Export audio.

In the window that opens, select where to save the recording, the name of the audio file, the format and the quality. Click on the "Save" button.

If necessary, fill in the metadata. You can proceed simply by clicking the "Accept" button.

The conversation will be saved to a file after a few seconds.
