Stickers or stickers on your Windows 11 desktop

Among other new features of Windows 11 22H2 there is an interesting customization function: the possibility of adding stickers to the desktop, which are displayed above the wallpaper but below the icons.

In this short instruction on how to add and change stickers on your Windows 11 desktop or remove them if necessary. You may also be interested in other articles on customizing the Windows 11 desktop layout.

How to add stickers to your desktop, change or remove them

You can use one of the following methods to add stickers to your Windows 11 desktop:

  • Right-click on an empty area of the desktop and select “Add or change stickers”.
  • The second option is to go to Settings – Personalization – Background and click “Add stickers” under “Choose wallpaper stickers”.

If the option isn't available even though you have Windows 11 22H2 installed, enable it using the registry editor:

  1. Start the registry editor by pressing the keys Win + R on the keyboard, enter regedit and press Enter.
  2. Go to the section
  3. Create a subsection with the name Stickers in this section, select it.
  4. In the right pane of the registry editor, right-click, create a new DWORD parameter called EnableStickers, double-click the parameter and change the value to 1.
  5. Close the registry editor and restart your browser (or restart your computer).

Once you have entered the add stickers mode, all the icons will disappear from the screen and a search window will appear to select stickers from a list of available ones.

  1. Select one or more stickers to add them to the desktop, which will appear overlaid in the upper left corner.
  2. Use the mouse to change the location of the sticker on the desktop and its size.
  3. To remove the selected sticker, use the corresponding button below it.
  4. When you have finished editing the stickers, click on the cross in its selection box and you will return to the desktop with the stickers you have added.
  5. Stickers are displayed on all desktops if you use Windows 11 virtual desktops.

Unfortunately, at the moment I cannot tell you how to add your own stickers to the list of available ones, or if it is possible (if anyone has information, please share it in the comments), and the selection of available ones, although wide, is limited. However, I do not exclude that for someone the new function will be useful.
