What to do if Outlook stops sending emails

What to do if Outlook stops sending emails

When, while working with the Outlook email client, emails stop being sent, it is always unpleasant. Especially when you have to make an urgent shipment. If you have already found yourself in such a situation but have not been able to solve the problem, take a look at this short instruction. Here we will look at some of the situations that Outlook users encounter most frequently.

Autonomous operation.

One of the features of the Microsoft email client is the ability to work both online and offline. Often times, when the network connection is interrupted, Outlook disconnects. And since the mail client is disconnected in this mode, it will not send emails (and it will not receive them either).

So if you are not sending emails, the first thing to do is check the messages in the lower right part of the Outlook window.

If there is an "Offline" (or "Disconnected" or "Attempting to connect") message there, then your client is using the offline mode of operation.

To deactivate this mode, open the "Send and Receive" tab and in the "Options" section (located on the right side of the feed), click on "Offline operation".

After that, try sending the email again.

High volume fixation

Another reason why emails are not being sent may be the large size of the attachment.

It may interest you:  Change the encoding of emails in Outlook

By default, Outlook has a limit of five megabytes per attachment. If your attachments exceed this size, you will need to separate them and attach a smaller file. You can also attach a link.

After that, you can try sending the email again.

Incorrect password.

An invalid password for your account can also be the reason why emails are not being sent. For example, if you have changed the password to access your email account, you must also change it in your Outlook account settings.

To do this, you must go to the account settings by clicking the corresponding button on the File menu.

In the Accounts window, highlight the one you want and click the "Change" button.

Now it remains to enter the new password in the corresponding field and save the changes.

Overflowing box.

If all the above solutions don't help, then check the size of the Outlook data file.

If it is large enough, delete old and unnecessary emails or send some correspondence to the archive.

Usually these solutions are enough to solve the problem of sending emails. If nothing helps, you should contact the support team and check that your account settings are correct.
